What Are the Different Kinds of Vehicles Used for a Towing Service?
Tow trucks are vehicles that pull other vehicles. They are normally used to transport cars that have failed, because of mechanical problems or ones that have been involved in an accident. Many are privately owned, that earn their money towing vehicles from places such as highways, roads, ditches etc. Some trucks, though, are owned by the government, and patrol toll roads and highways.
There are 3 kinds of tow trucks: wheel life, flatbed and hook and chain. Hook and chain ones are not used as much as they used to be. Because they are operated by wrapping a chain around an axle or frame on a car. This method will cause scratches or damage to the vehicle. Usually, this kind of truck is only used on vehicles that have been badly damaged in an accident, cars that no longer have any front or back wheels, and cars with steel bumpers.
